| Introduction to Mission (ITM) |
‘Mission’ seems to be on everyone’s lips these days. It’s a feel-good word, suggesting purpose, direction and transformative change. Christians talk about mission a great deal and it seems to be integral to every dynamic church agenda. But what does all this mission talk have to do with God and with what Christians actually do? ITM offer insights to various perspectives on definitions of mission, the theology and practice of mission. The course will explore theological basis of Missions from both the Old and the New Testaments perspectives. |
| Introduction to Christian Discipleship |
Discipleship and Disciple-making is central to the work of the Church in the world (Matthew 28:18-20). This is the educational ministry of the Church ~ to help people as they are being formed toward the likeness of Christ. This course examines the biblical and historical models and principles for the life-long process of Discipleship and making disciples in a changing world of self-awareness. Built on the foundation of spiritual formation and mentoring, students will be challenged to grow as disciples so that they might also equip and encourage others to grow in following Jesus. | Cross-Cultural Mission (CCM) |
The course will help missionaries to identify the different ways culture has been understood by Christians throughout the history of the church. The module will clarify the distinctions and relationships between mission, culture and church. Students will be able to assess different approaches to learning culture in the light of Scripture and their effectiveness in helping the church fulfil its mission. Students should be able to discern those aspects of culture that build communities. At the end of this module, the students should be able to: |

This course will provide first-hand understanding of Islam, its origin, history, tenets, pillars, beliefs, and practices. Christian response to Islam. Witnessing to a Muslim. How to gather and follow up Muslim converts will be discussed. At the end of the course students should be able to: |
| Communicating the Gospel in Contemporary Times (CGCT) |
This module aims to highlight biblical strategies for mission in a post-modern cultural context. This module will explore the interrelatedness of mission, evangelism, and social justice in our communities. This module will also focus on the responsibilities of a local church to the community where it is situated. At the completion of the module students will be able to: |
| Christian Apologetics |
The unit explore the facts and evidence available in archaeology, philosophy, history and science to substantiate Biblical truths and the authenticity of the scripture. On the completion of this module, the successful student should be able to: Define the concept of Christian Apologetics. Be conversant with Biblical doctrines that define Christianity. Be in a position to defend the Gospel with the various evidence that abound and in a pragmatic way present the Gospel’s truth just as Christ’s disciples. Be in a position to authenticate Creation theory as espoused by the Scripture. |
| Homiletics |
Homiletics is the art and science of preaching. This course focuses on highlighting the intricacies of the Bible and communicating them to a congregation in sermons that are inspirational, thought provoking and easy to understand in a multicultural setting. The Unit enable students to appreciate that preaching is not meant to condemn the listener but rather to encourage listeners to consider, appreciate and embrace God’s love for mankind and God’s provision for the salvation of man through the sacrifice of Jesus’ death, resurrection and ascension, and that the world will come to an end with the second coming of Jesus, with judgement as described in the Bible. | Holy Spirit, Holiness, and Prayer in Mission (HHP) |
This course aims to explore the realities of the Biblical antecedents with respect to the role of the Holy Spirit, Holiness and prayer for a successful missionary enterprise. At the completion of this module students will be able to: |
| Evangelism and Church planting |
This course will provide hands on skills and steps to successfully plant a new congregation in a multicultural setting utilising the basic principle of Evangelism. The characteristics of a church planted and the necessary equipping to start a new church will be explored. How to gather and train a church planting team and identify a geographical location will be discussed. At the end of the course students should be able to: |
| Jesus and His Church |
The course aims to introduce students to an overview of the theological and practical issues relevant to the concept of Christian leadership today. It examines various leadership styles and identifies effective leadership models for a church to engage in mission in its local context. It also seeks to provide understanding of the relationship between the Old and New Testaments and that one is not necessarily at variance in object and eventual purposes with the other. At the completion of this module, the students will be able to: |
| Mission Strategy and Practical Assignment (Student Internship) |
Student internship is an integral part of the program. Through it we help to develop the practical effectiveness of students as missionaries. Students will have the opportunity to choose from a couple of internship opportunities. The students are expected to keep and record their experiences in a Journal which will be submitted after their internship. The internship entails the following: Introducing students to the variety of opportunities for mission and helping them to clarify their perception of their future callingHelping students to discover, develop and put into practice their gifts and skillsInvolving students in “hands-on” mission initiatives, especially cross-cultural mission. For example, general ministry experiences such as preaching, prayer meetings, team ministry, leading small groups, mission planning committees etc.Giving students the opportunity to observe experienced missionaries and church leaders on the jobEnabling students to reflect on their own practical experience in a rewarding way. |
